This family event was founded in 2001 by Marianne Donnelly, a local
Boston educator and performing artist, to bring attention to the monarch
butterfly as the creature most likely to indicate possible harm from
genetically engineered (GE) food production. Specifically, the pollen
from genetically engineered corn blows onto the sole source of food for
this butterflyÕs larvae, milkweed, which grows around corn fields. |
